The Taj at sunrise, Delhi's great mosque and a Muslim heritage most tours skip
India has the second-largest Muslim population on earth — roughly 200 million people — and yet most tours of the Golden Triangle treat that as invisible. We build the other trip: the Taj Mahal at first light, Friday prayer at Delhi's Jama Masjid, the Mughal tombs nobody photographs, and Hyderabad's old city where the food alone justifies the flight. Halal food takes planning outside Muslim neighbourhoods, so we plan it the same way we plan prayer.
The four things that actually decide whether a destination is comfortable — food, prayer, the group, and the guide.
Jama Masjid and Humayun's Tomb in Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, and Hyderabad's Charminar and Golconda Fort.
Every included meal is halal. In Muslim neighbourhoods that is easy; elsewhere we pre-book and pre-check rather than leaving it to chance.
Jama Masjid and Mecca Masjid are on the route, and mosque stops are written into every travel day. Friday prayer is arranged in Delhi or Hyderabad.
16 travellers maximum with a trip leader throughout, internal flights instead of 14-hour drives, and rest built in.
India is the second-largest Muslim country in the world by population, and in Muslim neighbourhoods — Old Delhi, Hyderabad's old city, parts of Mumbai and all of Kerala — halal food is simply the default. Outside those areas it takes planning, so every included meal on our India departures is halal, pre-booked and checked, with seafood and vegetarian backups planned at every stop.
October to March. April and May are punishingly hot across the north; the monsoon runs roughly June to September and hits Kerala hardest.
In Muslim neighbourhoods, yes — it is the default. Elsewhere it needs planning, which is why the included meals are pre-booked and every city comes with a verified shortlist for free time.
Yes. It is an active mosque and the largest in India, and we time the visit so the group can pray there rather than just photograph it.
