Palawan lagoons and limestone cliffs — with a plan for halal food that actually works

Philippines — halal-friendly small-group travel

The Philippines is 6% Muslim — around six to seven million people, concentrated in Mindanao, Palawan and the Sulu archipelago — and it is the one beach destination in Asia where we say honestly: the islands are world-class, and the halal infrastructure is thin. So we plan it properly. Muslim-owned restaurants and certified suppliers are locked in before departure, islands are chosen partly for what is available on them, and your trip leader carries a shortlist for every stop.

Why Philippines works for Muslim travellers

The four things that actually decide whether a destination is comfortable — food, prayer, the group, and the guide.

Honest about the trade-off

Idyllic islands, fewer halal options. We tell you exactly where it is easy and where we have pre-arranged food, rather than promising it everywhere.

Muslim heritage in the south

Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago carry centuries of Muslim heritage — mosques, sultanates and a food culture quite different from the rest of the country.

Halal locked in before you fly

Certified and Muslim-owned suppliers confirmed in writing for every included meal, with seafood and vegetarian always available.

Small groups only

16 travellers maximum. Island logistics break down with big buses, so we keep boats and transfers sized to the group.

Top experiences

  • ✓Palawan: the Bacuit archipelago lagoons, limestone karsts and hidden beaches
  • ✓Bohol: the Chocolate Hills, tarsier sanctuaries and the Loboc river
  • ✓Cebu: diving, whale sharks at Oslob and Spanish-era churches
  • ✓Manila: the Golden Mosque in Quiapo and the old walled city of Intramuros
  • ✓Mindanao: Marawi's Muslim heritage and the mosques of the south, where security allows

Halal food & prayer

The Philippines has a national halal certification scheme and a growing number of certified suppliers, but coverage is uneven — strong in Muslim Mindanao and parts of Manila, thin on the resort islands. We confirm every included meal with a Muslim-owned or certified supplier before you fly, and pick islands partly on what can be sourced there. Seafood is excellent and always available.

Best time to go

December to May, the dry season. The typhoon season runs roughly June to November and we do not run island itineraries through it.

Questions people ask about Philippines

Is it hard to eat halal in the Philippines?

On the resort islands, yes — that is why we pre-arrange rather than improvise. In Muslim Mindanao and parts of Manila it is straightforward.

Is it safe to travel in Mindanao?

Parts of it, some of the time. We tell you honestly which areas we will and will not run, and we follow local advice on the ground rather than pretending the question does not exist.
