> Blue medina lanes, a Sahara night and Marrakech rooftops at golden hour

## Overview

Morocco rewards a guide. The medinas are genuinely labyrinthine, the good riads are hidden behind unmarked doors, and a lot of the prettiest properties are built around a bar. We work the other way: alcohol-free riads, desert camps chosen for quiet and darkness, and local guides who grew up inside the medina. Ten days, one country, capped at 16 travellers.

## Day by day

### Days 1–2 — Casablanca & Rabat
Start at the Hassan II Mosque — one of the very few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors — then north to Rabat for the Kasbah and the Mohammed V Mausoleum.

### Days 3–4 — Chefchaouen
The blue city. Two slow days in the Rif mountains, a hike to the Spanish mosque viewpoint for sunset, and the quietest nights of the trip.

### Days 5–6 — Fes
The Fes medina with a local guide: the Karaouine quarter, the Bou Inania madrasa and the tanneries. A leather workshop visit and a free afternoon.

### Days 7–8 — Merzouga & the Sahara
Cross the Middle Atlas to the dunes. Camel trek at sunset, dinner and stargazing in a desert camp, then sunrise on the ridge.

### Days 9–10 — Marrakech
Over the High Atlas to Marrakech. Jemaa el-Fnaa at dusk, the Koutoubia, the Bahia Palace and a farewell dinner on a rooftop.

## Halal food and prayer

Morocco is a Muslim country — halal is simply how people eat. Our riads and desert camps are chosen for being alcohol-free environments, and every included meal is halal.

Mosques are everywhere and prayer times are built into the day. Friday prayer is arranged in Fes or Marrakech depending on where the group is. Note that most Moroccan mosques are closed to non-Muslim visitors — the Hassan II Mosque is the exception, and we book it.

## FAQ

**Are the riads alcohol-free?**
Yes. Every property we use on this trip is chosen partly for that reason — no bar, no alcohol service.

**How rough is the desert camp?**
It is a proper camp — beds, bedding, hot food and bathroom facilities. One night only, and we keep it in the warm months so evenings are comfortable.

**Is Morocco safe for solo women travellers?**
Yes, with the usual street smarts. Travelling with a group and a local guide removes most of the friction, and you can room with another sister.
