> Rockies, lakes and two of the most Muslim-friendly cities in North America

## Overview

Canada has around 1.8 million Muslims and some of the most established Muslim infrastructure in North America: mosques in every city, halal restaurants as a norm rather than a novelty, and halal certification you can actually rely on. The catch is distance — the Rockies are a five-hour flight from Toronto — so we build the trip around internal flights and two-night stays, and split it into an eastern and a western route.

## Why Canada works for Muslim travellers

- **Muslim infrastructure that works** — Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa all have established mosques and large halal food scenes, including proper halal butchers and bakeries.
- **The Rockies, unhurried** — Banff and Jasper, Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway, with two-night stays so a cloudy day does not cost you the view.
- **Cities worth the time** — Toronto's waterfront and museums, Montreal's old town, Vancouver's harbour and Stanley Park.
- **16 travellers, internal flights** — Small groups and flights for the long legs rather than six days on a coach.

## Top experiences

- Banff and Lake Louise: turquoise glacial lakes beneath the Rockies
- Jasper and the Icefields Parkway: glaciers, canyons and wildlife
- Toronto: the CN Tower, the waterfront and the city's established Muslim communities
- Montreal: old town, Mount Royal and a halal food scene that rivals any in North America
- Niagara Falls and the wine country, plus Vancouver's harbour and Stanley Park

## Halal food and prayer

Canada is one of the easiest non-Muslim countries in the world to eat halal in. Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver have large halal food scenes — restaurants, butchers, bakeries and grocers — and halal certification is well established. Every included meal is halal, and the larger cities give you genuine choice in free time.

Every city on our routes has an established mosque, and most have several. Prayer times are printed on the daily schedule, including on travel days. In the Rockies the group stops at the mosques in Banff and Jasper and uses prayer rooms en route.

## Best time to go

May to September for the Rockies and the whole country. Late September to early October is spectacular in the east; winter trips are possible but alpine roads need planning.

## FAQ

**Is halal food easy in Canada?**
Yes, in the cities — it is one of the most straightforward countries in the Americas for halal food, with certification and genuine choice.

**How do you handle the distances?**
Internal flights for the long legs and two-night stays wherever the landscape deserves it, rather than one-night stops and early starts.
